SWA Movie Analysis 3/5

The first film we watched was “Nosferatu” which was made in 1922.  It was a film about vampire, an early depiction of Dracula. It was a silent film except for the music in the background that helps gain the suspense of the scary parts. Since this film was shot in 1922, they didn’t have any high tech cameras or microphones to make voices sound sounds clear so I figure that is the main reason why it was a silent film. “The Conjuring,” shot in 2013 is another horror film about a sort of demonic presence in the house of a family. These movies are different from each other because of their time difference. If the generation of people now, were alive back in 1922, I have no doubt that Nosferatu would be one of the scariest movies. All three of the films were set in the bedroom where most of the scaring and screaming took place.
I find “The Conjuring” the most effective because it is the most recent film, which means it was able to use all the new types of technology to make huge differences in the films scare tactics. For example the camera angles the different use of lighting and so on. It is said that some people have actually had health issues after watching this scary film. Therefore I feel like The Conjuring was the most effective. It actually affected me in way, although I usually don’t get too scared of horror films, this might be the only one that had an after affect on me.
